Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (or hash) created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you’re using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is here: https://automattic.com/privacy. After approval, your profile photo may be visible with your comment. 

Media

If you upload images to the site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download and extract location data from uploaded images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we’ll set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login info and display settings. Login cookies last for two days; display options last a year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login to two weeks. Logging out deletes these cookies.

If you edit or publish content, another cookie will be saved in your browser. It includes no personal data and simply stores the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely for moderation and spam control.

If you register for an account (if applicable), we store the personal info you provide in your profile. You can view, edit, or delete your info at any time — except your username. Site admins can also access and edit user data.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data. You can also request that we erase any data we hold — excluding data we’re required to keep for legal, administrative, or security reasons.
